Human body consists of two major types of nutrients. All other nutrients come under these categories . These are :- Macronutrients and Micronutrients .

Macronutrients

These are required in large amounts by our body. Our body requires them for energy and for maintaining body structure . There are 7 major classes of macronutrients.

  • Carbohydrates

   

  •  Proteins

  • Vitamins

  • Fats

  • Fiber

  • Water

  • Minerals

Carbohydrates

Carbohydrates provide and store energy to the body. 

Sources of carbohydrates:-      They are found in Legumes and Vegetables such as Potatoes, Corn and Peas. In Fruits such as Apples, Mangoes, Berries , Melon , Mangoes etc . In dairy Products such as Milk , Yogurt and also in different eatables such as Grains, Bread , Noodles etc.

Carbohydrates make 45 to 65 percent of  you total daily calories .  If someone wants to loose weight ,low-carb diet should be preferred.

Proteins

They are used to build and repair muscles and bones.

Source of Protein:- They are found in beans , legumes , soy chunks ,dairy products ,meat and the rest.

Vitamins and Minerals

They are required by our body to work properly . Vitamins are further divided into fat-soluble and water- soluble. 

Source :-They are found in fresh fruits, vegetables , dairy products , seeds ,nuts etc.

Fiber

Fibers help in increasing weight. if someone wants to loose weight they should lower amount of fibers in their diet.

Source :- Fibers are highly found in Broccolis , Popcorns , dried fruits etc.

Water

It travels throughout body . It carry nutrients , oxygen and wastes to and from your cells and organs . Human body consists of average 60 percent of water

Fats

They gives us energy and helps in absorption of fat -soluble vitamins

Source :- They are found in avocados , peanut , olives , nuts , peanut butter and so on .

Micronutrients:

They are required by body in small amounts . Basically they are Vitamins and Minerals.

Micronutrients can be divided into four groups:-

  • Water-soluble Vitamins

  • Fat-soluble Vitamins

  • Macrominerals

  • Traceminerals

Water-soluble Vitamins

 They are not stored in our body in excess so get flushed with urine when consumed in excess. They are water-soluble. 

Various types of  Water-solubleVitamins are :-Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B7, Vitamin B9, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C.

Various Vitamins are obtained from various foods.

Fat-soluble Vitamins

 They absorbed along with other fats in the body.

Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin K are classified as Fat-soluble Vitamins . They are  basically present in foods containing fats.

Macrominerals

 Sodium, Potassium , Calcium ,Phosphorus , Chloride and Sulphur are reffered to as Macrominerals.

Each macro mineral has different function . They help in maintaining healthy bones and teeth  and maintains proper fluid balance . 

Traceminerals

 They are required in small amounts but there presence matters a lot. 

Hence Traceminerals are classified into Iron , Zinc , Copper , Manganese , Fluoride and the rest .
