Can we lose weight by Keto Diet ?
A diet having low carbohydrates and high amount of fats in quantity with adequate amount of proteins .
Can we lose weight by consuming such diet ?
The answer is Yes but how is it possible ?
When we consume less amount of carbohydrates in our diet there would be less amount of glucose for body to turn up . Therefore our body will not have enough glucose for producing energy instead it will start burning down fats stored in body .
Researchers have concluded that Keto-diet helps in weight loss -not only in water loss but also in fat loss .
Types of Keto Diets :-
One can follow any of the keto diet according to the requirements of their respective body:-
There are various types of ketogenic diets , some of them are :-
- Standard ketogenic diet(SKD):- This is a very low carb (about 5 to 10 percent ) , moderate protein and high fat diet .
- Very-low-carb ketogenic diet(VLCKD):-This is same as standard ketogenic diet as it is also a low carb diet .
- Well formulated ketogenic diet (WFKD):- In this the amount of macronutrients of fats , carbohydrates and proteins should meet the ratios of standard ketogenic diet.
- MCT ketogenic diet:-These diets are basically preferred for those suffering from epilepsy.
- Calorie-restricted ketogenic diet:-It is more likely to be standard ketogenic diet just that calorie intake have to be restricted.
- Cyclical Ketogenic Diet (CKD):-In this dietmore amount of carbohydrates are consumed as after every five ketogenic days there are two high carb days.
- Targeted Ketogenic Diet (TKD):-Similiar as standard ketogenic diet just that carbohydrates are consumed during workout times .
High Protein Ketogenic Diet:-This diet is consumed by bodybuilders . It contains much amount of protein (35 percent ).
Effectiveness of Keto diet in weight loss :-
Only after consuming keto-diet for around one month the average weight loss was found to be 10 to 12 pounds . Also if you are very strict to keto diet it will workout even without exercises .
Precautions:-
It is not found to be safe for those who are diagnosed with any digestion problems or involving pancreas , liver , thyroid or gall bladder .
